Holy crap! There was SNOW on the hills around the valley this morning…
Hahaha this is my favorite funny of the moment!
Finally made it down to the Apple store in Valley Fair. Cool store. It was
fun to watch ‘civilians’ playing with iMacs, iTunes, iPhoto and all the other
whizbang stuff.
I am almost done ripping my CD collection into MP3 format. It’s a pretty
easy process with iTunes.
Drop a CD in the CD-ROM, close the CD tray, come back later and do it again.
Lovely! Of course, in the meantime, iTunes has downloaded the artist and track
names off of CDdb thus
minimizing the hassle of typing in all that data yourself. The only problem
is you are relying on data that some other end-user has typed in. Typos,
misspellings and bizare genre classifications all have to be fixed.
One thing I haven’t figured out yet, is how to work with group names that
seem to contain the word “the” in the beginning. For example, I was holding
an Offspring CD in my hand and wondering if I had already ripped it. I
scrolled down to O in my Music Library window and there was no Offspring! I
knew I had already ripped at least two Offspring albums (maybe three) but none
showed up. Well, as I typed “offspring” into the search box in iTunes, the
problem became clear… “The Offspring” is under T. How obnoxious is that?
UPDATE: The newest version of iTunes fixes the “the” problem. ROCK!
PS: Happy birthday, Mom! :)
I just added a link to
the Empty Bowl on my
Links page. It’s, get this, a web site devoted to CEREAL! It’s a very
entertaining site, actually. Ok, I suppose I should quit goofing off and go
mow the lawn. Bleh. Or, maybe I should read another article on the Empty
Bowl first… yeah, that’s definately more important.
Went to MacWorld this week. It was fun to see people oohing and aahing over
the new iMac. I think
it’s a very cool design, and I know it’s a very sweet machine. Apparently
some people think it looks too much like a desk lamp. Yeesh, some people
have no vision.
It’s 2002. Still no flying cars, laser-pistols or robot-butlers… but we
got SEGWAY (aka IT aka Ginger)! ;) Happy New Year, people.
I managed to catch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
yesterday. The 12:20 matinee showing was nearly sold out! I guess NYE
must be a big movie going day since apparently the Harry Potter showing at
the same time was sold out.
Since I’m a Tolkein-fan, but not a die-hard Tolkein-head, I didn’t mind any
of the changes that were made to make the story screen-ready. All in all,
I thought the movie was great! Beautiful imagery and great acting
recreated the Tolkein-world perfectly.
After three hours the movie ended and the audience clearly wanted more. It’s
a pretty good sign that you’ve got a good movie on your hands if the audience
wants more after such a long sitting! I also thought it was kinda neat
when I heard some children pretending to be Strider or Legolas on the way
out of the theatre. LoTR is timeless.
I can’t wait for the next two flicks.
PS: I give it 5 out of 5 mysterious rangers.
