Being Sick Sucks

Posted in misc on January 27th, 2003 by r3v

I’m just getting over a stomach flu. It pretty much kicked my ass on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sunday wasn’t a picnic either. I hate being sick. I was even too sick to write, draw or play computer games. Bleh.

Did get a little reading done though.

Very quick email exchange with Rael (Blosxom author) and it’s fixed. Yay. Thanks, Rael.

New DVDs and Books… Yay!

Posted in books, misc, movies on January 21st, 2003 by r3v

Tower Records/Video was having a 25% off sale on everything in their store. I figured that was a good time to pick oup some of the DVDs I’d been wanting to buy for a while. I got Buffalo ‘66, Akira, the Cell, The Fifth Element, Queen of the Damned and the third season of Buffy. I coulda got stacks more, but on my way into the Records/Video store I saw that Tower Books next door was having a 30% off everything sale!

If had have known about that, I woulda brought a list. :) But since I didn’t, I grabbed what I could remember from my wishlist. Beyond Good and Evil (Nietzsche), Why I Am Not a Christian (Russell), Technoromanticism (Coyne), Cryptonomicon (Stephenson), The Matrix and Philosophy (Irwin), Managing and Using MySQL (O’Reilly Pub.), Programming PHP (O’Reilly Pub.). Just some light reading. heh.

Bugs

I hate bugs. I’m not sure what I did, but somehow I killed the datestamp on my blog entries. :/

It must have something to do with the flavour templates.

Fridays

I swear. Fridays are the longest day of the week.

Well, until I leave work at least. ;)

Redesign’03 Now Live

Posted in personal on January 17th, 2003 by r3v

Ok. It’s “good enough” to be the live page, so I’ve flipped the switch and am using the new layout full-time now. It’s still UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Man… remember when 80% of the web said that? :)

The Sport of …dowhatnow?

Posted in odd on January 16th, 2003 by r3v

Ok. So I stumbled upon a quicktime video out on the net of a girl stacking cups… competitively. She’s freakishly fast at this odd event. I mean seriously freakish. She might be a mutant. (No offense, Emily.) The video is hosted by a company called Speed Stacks. The Leader in the Sport of Cup Stacking™

That’s right. The Leader in the Sport of Cup Stacking™… with the ™ and everything.

On their About Us page, they say: “As more and more Physical Education teachers introduce cup stacking units in their classes, they see first-hand the benefits of this sport, not to mention the excitement being generated by students.” Huh. I wonder if this is going to cut into the number of young hopefuls who pursue athletic careers in the realms of speed-typing and card-shuffling.

In their Store (yes, they have a store page) they have all sorts of sport stacking paraphernalia, including Super Stacks. “These cups are specially weighted - just like the pros use.” Pros.

Did I mention they’re talking about stacking cups?

Editor Job Available

Whilst futzing (sp?) with the layout, I’ve been forced to re-read much of my recent blog posts. Many typos and other errors. I need an editor or something.

Or an Assistant! Yeah…

Yes, Again.

Posted in personal on January 16th, 2003 by r3v

I’m redesigning the home page again. Yes, again. Shut up!

I’m mostly simplifying and opening it up a bit… so I can cram more shit on the front page. heh. :) If you so desire, for some wacky reason, take a peek. I’m still mucking, but that’s the basic idea.

Might be messing up the current page a little bit because I am also changing some of the embedded objects that both the current/old and new pages use. Oh well.

Too Many Stuffs

Posted in funny, misc on January 16th, 2003 by r3v

Sometimes I sit on my couch and think “There’s nothing to do.”

Then, I respond, “No way! You’ve got a bunch of hobbies and projects! WTF are you on about?”

A little stunned by the response, I say “But… that’s kinda the problem. I mean I have a three books I’m reading, a pile of comics, unfinished artcrap, perl scripts to write, a stack of unplayed computer and PS2 games, stalled writing projects, friends I could be hanging out with, movies to watch…”

Then, I go, “Dude, STFU. You’re all whiny and shit for no reason. Don’t you realize some kids in Ethopia don’t have ANY hobbies besides playing starving and here you are whining about too much-”

And I’m all, “Get off my case, man!”

It continues on till I notice that I’m talking to myself and at least one of me sounds like an annoying geek. (Little do I know, all of me sounds like that! ;)

Then I go back to wondering what to do, say “fuck it” and take a nap.

What?
