"The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors."
Yesterday was a sad day. As you probably know, the space shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry, killing it’s seven member crew. (Articles)
It’s truly a tradgedy. May we all remember the Columbia and Her Crew: Rick Husband, William McCool, Michael Anderson, Kalpana Chawla, David Brown, Laurel Clark, and Ilan Ramon. Valiant explorers and heroes.
President bush made this comment. I was very happy to hear the President say, “Our journey into space will go on.” I’m sure NASA/space-program detractors will use this tragic event against the space program and I’m happy that Bush seems determined to ignore them.
Really, if you consider the number of spaceflights NASA has conducted, there really haven’t been that many major accidents. True, each one hits like a punch in the gut… but it’s a good record they have.
I do wish the President’s remarks had been a tad less religious. This nation becomes less secular all the time it seems.
