Merry OSXmas to me! I recieved my Xmas present from myself on Monday and have been bonding with it since. My new 12″ PowerBook! [Queue fanfare!] It’s sweet. So very sweet. In the last two days I’ve already used it for email, web, iChat, Halo, irc, Perl goodness and fending off a ninja attack on my stronghold! (It can block shuriken!)

Hail to the King, baby.

Went and saw the Midnight showing of Lord of the Rings:Return of the King on Tuesday night/Wedsnesday morning with a few of the guys (and girl) from work. No spoilers, but I have to say: Fucking Awesome.

I could not have asked for much more than Jackson delivered. Ok, well, I suppose there are a couple of things he left out that I wanted to see, but they might make it into the DVD. Everything he did, he did right though.

I give this movie: 5 out of 5 ass kicking white wizards.

PS: Yesderday’s PvP strip is spot on.

Catch Me If You Can

The other rented movie we watching on the trip was Catch Me If You Can. Based on a true story about a con-man in the early 70s, it stars Leo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks and, to some degree, Christopher Walken. I’m not much of a Leo fan (admittedly there may be some residual post-Titanic backlash… ) but he does a pretty decent job. Tom Hanks is awesome, though. (Need I mention how much Walken rules?)

The movie was a little slow at times, but it was mostly clever and charming. I give this flick 3 out of 5 conned airline personnel.

The Italian Job

One of the rented movies that we watched during our trip was The Italian Job. I
loved it, but then again, I’m a sucker for “caper” movies. Especially ones
involving a cool cast of characters (and actors), elaborate plans, chase scenes
and witty dialog.

Mark Wahlberg (who has somehow become one of my favored actors) does a good
job, as does Charlize Theron, Jason Statham and the rest. Seth Green and Ed
Norton are hella cool though. (Then again, when aren’t they?)

The Napster scene/cameo is brilliant.

I give it 4 out of 5 abused mini-coopers.

Mid-December Update

Lessee, update time.

Texas was ok. It was, as always, Texas-like. heh. I was happy to see my Mom, Grandma and assorted family though. Annette survived the first meeting with the family unscathed, and that’s good. :)

I’m virtually done Christmas shopping. The only thing I have left to get is a ~$20 white elephant gift for the gift exchange at work. That, and something for the girlfriend’s mom since I just learned she’s getting me something… which was a bit of a surprise. She likes me though… girlfriend’s moms always like me. o.O

I also placed my order for my Xmas gift to myself… brand new top o’ the fucking line 12″ Powerbook. (*YAY!*)
