New Site, New Domain coming

Posted in personal on August 26th, 2004 by r3v

On September 1st, I’ll be launching my new personal web site on a new domain name with a new web host. How exciting is that? What?! Well, you don’t have to be rude about it!

At any rate, don’t expect many blog posts in the meantime. I don’t wanna have to replicate too much. What? You weren’t expecting any to begin with? Man, yer full of attitude.

Imaginary Girlfriends (dot com … no shit.)

Posted in odd on August 18th, 2004 by r3v

The site’s tagline is “real girls, imaginary relationships.” The service allows you to select a girl from their stable and carry on a pretend relationship with her…

Just make up how you met and include any details about yourself that you want your new girlfriend to know. Within days you’ll receive personalized love letters by mail, e-mails, photos, special gifts… even phone messages or online chat. Every Imaginary Girlfriend is unique.

I suppose you can have imaginary sex with your imaginary girlfriend too. Of course, that’s not really different than many of the relationships I had in high school. But why? Why would someone use this service, you ask?

There are many reasons. Some guys are tired of being told by friends and family to get a girlfriend. Maybe you would like to make someone else jealous when they see how enamored your new girlfriend is by you. Perhaps you are wondering what it’s like to have a long distance girlfriend?

These are all good reasons, and it really depends on your situation. Having an Imaginary Girlfriend can be a lot of fun. What guy (or girl) wouldn’t enjoy being showered with personal love letters and affection of an Imaginary Girlfriend? Having an Imaginary Girlfriend can be a great confidence booster!

Apparently Imaginary Girlfriends require less care than Sea Monkeys:

No! You do not have to write back or acknowledge your Imaginary Girlfriend.

Note, this should not be attempted with real girlfriends. It is highly unadvisable! At any rate, I think the best part of the service just might be what happens at the end:

When the stated time period is over, you can break up with your Imaginary Girlfriend for any reason you wish. She will write you a final letter begging you to take her back.

Now that’s comedy.

I’m Not Sleeping

Posted in misc on August 18th, 2004 by r3v

It’s about 03:30. I fire up the RSS reader and there’s nothing new to peruse. I fire up IRC and all my favorite channels are dead. I fire up iChat and the only people online are on the other side of the planet. All sure signs that I should be asleep.

Problem is, I’m not in the least bit tired. I could pick up the book I was reading earlier, but it’s so good that I really kinda doubt it will help me fall asleep. I guess I should turn off the computer, turn on Nick At Night or something and go back to staring at the ceiling… but that just doesn’t sound very appealing.

Instead, I’m online, working on the new design for the website (you’ll get to see it when I move to the new domain name/hosting service.. I bet you can’t wait), trying to plot when’s the best time for our New York trip (fscking 71g3r) and chatting with Smittie in Kuwait. (Looking forward to the D&B trip/war stories after he gets back. :) )

MIA Friends

Posted in misc on August 18th, 2004 by r3v

In life, friends come and go. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes not. There’s some people I don’t talk to any more that I miss, though. I haven’t talked to them since before I broke up with Shanna and it’s bugged me that I haven’t talked to them since. After/during the breakup, I kinda decided to let other people decide if they were her friend, my friend or both… and if they didn’t reach out to me, I figured they were just hers. A very self-involved and possibly inaccurate method, but it made sense at the time. (To be frank, it still kinda does.) At any rate, I finally decided… “fuck them, I’m writing them anyway.” At least the ones I actually miss.

The others can go fuck themselves.

New Cellphone (V710)

Posted in technology on August 17th, 2004 by r3v

So, last week I get a new cellphone, the v710 from Motorola. It’s a bluetooth (a first for Verizon), camera, flip-phone. It is, as far as my criteria is concerned, the holy grail of cellphones. It’s only been about a week, but so far my only two complaints are that iSync doesn’t support syncing over bluetooth yet (USB only) and Salling Clicker doesn’t speak to it yet.
Oh well. I’m still in geeklust with it. :)

Random Thoughts @ 01:47

Posted in misc on August 17th, 2004 by r3v

It’s 01:47am on a Monday ni Tuesday morning. I’m sitting
here mucking with a website, listening to Rob Zombie (a god among
musicians), talking with Eric via iChat off and on, and carrying on some
of the most inane IRC conversations ever. Wanna know what thought is most
prevalent in my slightly vodka addled mind?

I miss my girlfriend. I chatted with her a couple hours ago, spoke to her
via phone a couple hours prior to that, and saw her yesterday. It’s been
like a year and a half or something that we’ve been together and I still
can’t wait till the next
time I see her.

Ok. Sorry, y’all. I’ll return you to your normal blog entries
now.</sappy>

Uh. Go Kerry, or something! heh.

GAH!

If this doesn’t encourage you to get up and go for a walk, nothing will.
