Nacho Cheesier?

Posted in funny, misc on August 3rd, 2005 by r3v

I bought a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos with my lunch today. Printed in big bold letters on the bag is the phrase “Now Better Tasting!”

Now better tasting? Was anyone complaining about Nacho Cheese Doritos before? Hell, most people probably think Frito Lay (the giant chip conglomerate who makes Doritos) invented the flavor of Nacho Cheese. At least as we understand it in pre-packed snack goods.

And now you are telling me it could have been better this whole time? What? The flavor scientists working on the Nacho Cheese formula were the second string and only NOW have they moved the A-team to the Nacho Cheese department? Or have they been toiling away in their artificial flavor laboratory for many years and have suddenly had a sapidity breakthrough?

I feel like all along I’ve been eating mediocre Doritos when I could have been having better. It’s like I’ve been had. We all have and it depresses me to such a low that I’m not even sure these Nacho CheesierĀ® flavored chips can lift my spirits.

Ok. I’m going to eat my lunch now. In sullen rumination.

UPDATE: I don’t notice the difference. Was this all a marketing ploy?!

Must-Have Podcasts

Posted in cool, links, podcasts on August 3rd, 2005 by r3v

Been meaning to post this for a while. Here are a few of my must-have podcasts. Note, these are must-have for ME. Not must-have for you. All the links are iTMS links because, well, that’s how how things work around here.

the Eric Rice Show

- As in Eric Rice of EricRice.com.

Diggnation w/Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht

- A couple of former TechTV guys talking Digg.

Skepticality

- Derek and Swoopy bring you some funny skepticism.

this WEEK in TECH

- TWIT! More former TechTV people, including Leo Laporte as the main TWIT.

The Dawn and Drew Show

- Two married, former gutter-punks with a show about nothing. It’s actually kinda funny.

Battlestar Galactica

- If you like the new BSG series on SciFi, then you might like this. It’s the executive producer doing commentary on each episode. (Not unlike BuffyRadio which begat Showtalkers. Except, of course, it’s the show’s producer.)

And last, but not least by any means…

SuicideGirls Radio

- A few of the SuicideGirls (NSFW) host a weekly radio show on an indie station in LA. Here it is in Podcast form.

PS: And as a special non-Podcast bonus Kathy Griffin’s Celebrity Playlist on iTMS is kind of fun to read. Mostly in a “I have 46 seconds to kill” kind of way.

Best. App. EVAR!!1!

I truly believe, in my heart of hearts, this application is the pinnacle of programming. It is the apex of software design. A marriage of art and code. It is the MegaManEffect. (Mac OS X ONLY. All other platforms can suck it.)

It’s only downhill from here, kiddies.
