Wired 14.11: Very Short Stories

Wired 14.11: Very Short Stories: We’ll be brief: Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words (”For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”) and is said to have called it his best work. So we asked sci-fi, fantasy, and horror writers from the realms of books, TV, movies, and games to take a shot themselves.
There are some excellent submisssions in there. Some of my favorite writers contributed. I always thought Hemingway’s story was excellent, and I don’t think anyone beat it… but still some good stuff to read. Over on the Geekdrome forums, we started our own thread where most people contributed one or two. I, having less self control, wrote a few. Some suck, some are funny. There’s a heavy focus on geek stuff, of course. Anyways, here they are:
Wired proves talented writers wield simplicity.
Stripping, then porn. Pauly Shore. Suicide.
Two geeks talk shit about stuff.
Beatle pushes one-legged woman over.
(If you count hyphenates as one word, then it’s Angry Beatle pushes one-legged woman over. I like that one better.)Used car. No questions. Trunk locked.

The second one is a true autobiography, but I didn’t name the person. heh. Anyways, those all came fairly quickly. I’d love to write one as epic as Hemingway’s. I wonder how much thought he put into that one? Was he trying to limit himself when he wrote it? Curious. There are probably answers to these questions out there on the intarweb, but I can’t be bothered to look. Maybe after lunch.
