I managed to catch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
yesterday. The 12:20 matinee showing was nearly sold out! I guess NYE
must be a big movie going day since apparently the Harry Potter showing at
the same time was sold out.
Since I'm a Tolkein-fan, but not a die-hard Tolkein-head, I didn't mind any
of the changes that were made to make the story screen-ready. All in all,
I thought the movie was great! Beautiful imagery and great acting
recreated the Tolkein-world perfectly.
After three hours the movie ended and the audience clearly wanted more. It's
a pretty good sign that you've got a good movie on your hands if the audience
wants more after such a long sitting! I also thought it was kinda neat
when I heard some children pretending to be Strider or Legolas on the way
out of the theatre. LoTR is timeless.
I can't wait for the next two flicks.
PS: I give it 5 out of 5 mysterious rangers.
